Vn10 ingredients – Vitex negundo extract (Nirgundi), Vitex agnus castus extract (Chaste tree berry)

Attitude Adjuster ingredients – Vitex negundo extract (Nirgundi), Vitex agnus castus extract (Chaste tree berry), Magnesium chloride.

For including in feed to help regulate inappropriate hormone activity in horses, VN10, quite often has an amphoteric effect on attitude resulting in more contentment but with no lack of spirit or character if necessary this ameliorating effect on attitude can be more pronounced by feed VN 10 with Magnesium chloride.

I Litre of VN10 is sufficient for 33 days when fed at 30ml per day

I Litre of ATTITUDE ADJUSTER is sufficient for 16 days when fed at 60ml per day

VN10 has beneficial endocrinal effects on both male and female horses

VN10 has an anaphrodisiac effect on stallions and geldings

Vitex is popularly implicated in helping stop advance of Equine Cushing’s disease

In mares VN10 helps regulate inappropriate hormonal activity acting on the anterior pituitary gland, reducing FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and increasing LSH (Luteum-stimulating hormone) – Stimulates the production of Progesterone but reduces that of Oestrogen. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory and natural anti-biotic properties. VN10 is safe and there are no known counter indications as to its use.

Vitex negundo is effective in the treatment of ulcerative colitis as shown by the method of acid-induced colitis in mice, with results comparable with the standard drug prednisolone.

ATTITUDE ADJUSTER

  1. To provide for an increase in intracellular & blood Magnesium levels to help offset the effects of hypertension, irrational fears and anxiety and help impart a sweeter disposition.
  2. To provide a gentle, non-toxic, non-addictive natural relaxant to ameliorate tension, spookiness and anxiety
  3. To help support hormone balance

Feed when necessary for as long as required. May be fed on a permanent basis

Vitex with Magnesium is popularly implicated in helping slow the advance of Equine Cushing’s disease and is contained in the Trinity C7 formula

Notes – ATTITUDE ADJUSTER is a gentle, non-toxic, non-addictive formula that favourable influences on serotonin and the CNS acting as a natural relaxant to the higher nerve centres. It helps regulate inappropriate hormonal activity acting on the anterior pituitary gland, reducing FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and increasing LSH (Luteum-stimulating hormone) – Stimulates the production of Progesterone but reduces that of Oestrogen. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory and natural anti-biotic properties. It is safe and there are no known counter indications as to its use.

INGREDIENTS   VN10 containing Vitex negundo extract (Nirgundi) & Vitex agnus castus (Chaste tree berry) plus Valerian officinalis extract & Stevia rotundifolia ext

Feed VN12 to help ameliorate inappropriate behaviour due to stress of hormone activity Stallions and riggy Geldings and is helpful in dampening residual hormonal activity in the period after castration.

If required VN12 can be fed to particularly seasonal Mares

Provides a gentle, non-toxic, non-addictive, natural relaxant to ameliorate tension, spookiness and anxiety; for feeding to horses that are mentally stressed and anxious and to horses that as a consequence, have developed behavioural disorders.

For feeding to horses, that regardless of caring management, lack composure and are ill at ease.  For horses that appear to lack confidence which may result in anger, hostility and incongruous behaviour.

Can be useful for feeding to horses that have been parted from a companion on which they have become dependent. (Also see EvenKeel Formulae) and for horses that are acutely stressed following an accident or fearful situation.

Special note – To enhance steroidal effect on the body feed HONEY COMPLEX 1756 in addition to VN10 this is not the same as feeding industrially produced steroids. See further information on HONEY COMPLEX 1756.

HONEY COMPLEX 1756  –  Registered Client Information

Contents – Dioscorea villosa ext & Honey

HONEY COMPLEX 1756 can be safely fed to all horses and ponies with the exception of pregnant mares. Feed in addition to existing support supplements or as a sole specific support.

The large amount of Diosgenin contained in Dioscorea the active ingredient of HONEY COMPLEX 1756 is a saponin precursor in the synthisis of progesterone.  Progesterone is produced endogenously (by the body) but at certain times in a mare’s cycle and under conditions when a stress prevails or an accumulation of stresses occur may not be in balance with the sex hormone oestrogen. Under such conditions Mares and Fillies can be wilful, belligerent and less disciplined causing what may be a well-trained and highly talented mare to let everyone down.

To try to help redress the balance it can be worthwhile to feeding HONEY COMPLEX 1756 to provide the metabolism with an extra way of increasing endogenous progesterone and although it starts off several process steps behind that can be achieved by directly feeding Cortico-Steroids as prescribed by the Vet it has some benefits in it being very safe and worth feeding before automatically invoking Cortico-Steroid dependency.

HONEY COMPLEX 1756 – can be considered as the “Director of Operations” concerned with chemical and physical changes whereby energy is created for the body’s vital activities and old cells are replaced by new ones. It is designed to harmonise the body’s natural production of hormones and enzyme creation and can be of particular significance in aiding recovery from a wide range of metabolic disturbances from debility to hyper activity in concert with the provision of the correct support nutrients, treatment and management. HONEY COMPLEX 1756 helps initiate and augment the workings of the system to return to normality.

*Saponins are Glycosides that lend the body the ability to ‘adapt’ and ‘normalise’ abnormalities of the endocrinal glandular system. Contained in HONEY COMPLEX 1756 is a high level of Diogenin similar in structure to cortisone the base for the steroid synthisis both by the horse and by industrial process.  Feeding HONEY COMPLEX 1756 can be a more  gentle natural  way of encouraging the body to produce correct hormonal levels if possible and the safest way of approaching any shortfalls and devoid of any of the side effects that can be possible by the straight intercedence of steroids to maintain the horse’s endocrinal **system

** Endocrinal glands are ductless glands that secrete chemicals (hormones) direct into the blood stream to be born to all parts of the body. Chief among them is the Pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal glands. Gonads are also endocrines producing sex hormones. Similarly the pancreas secretes insulin which is discharged directly into the blood. HONEY COMPLEX works specifically on these glands.

Some degree of hormonal inadequacy can be implicated in a variety of common horse problems especially if other measures that have been put in place to help have made little difference. Such circumstances are still the deciding factor in many decisions to put a horse on to steroids to help optimise Hormone requirements.  Hormones being chemical substances manufactured by the endocrinal glands and secreted directly into the bloodstream. As the heart pumps blood through the body they are borne to cells remote from their point of origin where they have a specific effect. They are the ‘spark’ which starts and keeps the engine running.

HONEY COMPLEX 1756 can help “even-out” many of the attitude and movement issues in mares and fillies mares increasing their fluidity and composure helping the highly talented mare to exhibit to her true potential.  Every mare is different, some just sail through the traumas of training and competing whilst others with equal potential have issues that disappointingly inhibit top marks. HONEY COMPLEX can help “even-out” many of the attitude and movement issues in high performance mares increasing their fluidity and composure helping the highly talented mare to exhibit to her true potential.

HONEY – Whilst not medicine honey has many medical qualities, processed by bees from the nectar of flowers it has an ethereal quality that enhances not just health but life itself. Many harmful bacteria cannot live in the presence of honey as it draws from them moisture essential to their existence. Fed everyday it hastens granulation in the active horse and arrests necrotic tissue formation.  Honey helps lymph flow to its normal tempo avoiding degenerative stagnation that inhibits performance in the most talented. Honey with herbs and herb extracts can result in beneficial synergies not entirely explained.

HORMONAL (Male – surges)  – Add VN12 to the diet of Stallions being disruptive and territorial in a mixed yard of geldings with riggish behavior.

   VN12

 Registered Client Information

INGREDIENTS – Vitex negundo extract, Passiflora incarnata, Melissa officinalis, Valeriana officinalis, Stevia rotundiflora ext.

Feed VN12 to help ameliorate inappropriate behaviour due to stress of hormone activity Stallions and riggy Geldings and is helpful in dampening residual hormonal activity in the period after gelding.  Late cut geldings can often remain ‘stallionish’ for quite a time especially if they had developed behavioural habits which can be re-triggered by the presence of a new horse to the yard or when put in unfamiliar surroundings in sight of others such as in paddocks where they can revert to fence walking and poring the ground with a lot of noise  where on previous occasions he was settled.

VN12 is a helpful anaphrodisiac when stallions and riggs are kept in mixed yards normally trustworthy but are occasionally stirred up by events.

VN 12 can help reduce stallion-like urges and excitedness but not in any character sapping way as when bromide is fed. VN12 is recommended to be fed at 2 to 4 spoons daily mixed in to the bucket feed.

C7

 Registered Client Information

INGREDIENTS – Vitex negundo, Magnesium chloride, Dioscorea villosa, Honey, Taurine, Vitamin E, Vitex agnus castus, Potassium chloride.

C7 is formulated from safe plants known to be beneficial to the pituitary gland, malfunction of which lies at the root of many baffling diseases both mental and physical and may be due to tumour, shock or other inexplicable reasons. Under such circumstances the inclusion of C7 in the diet to sustain the pituitary gland and the endocrinal system may reap unexpected rewards and be a useful as a sole support or an adjunct to medicinal help.

Diminished or over reaction of the Pituitary gland may be on account of tumour or shock resulting in degeneration of nerves cells deep within the brain causing neuro-transmitting faults resulting in Acromegaly and Cushing’s, in such cases supporting pituitary function can beneficial and possibly help avert decline.

The action of C7 upon the endocrine system is bi-directional helping to boost under-activity and decrease over-activity and the formula is regarded as a harmoniser and may be required to be fed on an on-going basis. Whilst research into more effective drugs with fewer side effects continue the holistic approach of C7 to support optimum pituitary function can be helpful.

GENERAL NOTES

Giving extra support to the hypothalamus and pituitary glands for a horse or pony diagnosed with or suspected of suffering from Cushing’s makes sense. Such action may at most delay the necessity for drug dependency and at least provide limit the often inevitable progression of drugs to a minimum. It must however be stated it is not an alternative for horses and ponies already being medically treated for Cushing’s disease.

C7 is formulated from plants seen to influence the relationship between the brain and the adrenals such as Gotu kola, Negundi and Sarsaparilla.  It must not be regarded as any form of medicine no more than plaster of Paris or a crutch can be for a broken leg, it is only an adjunct nevertheless malfunction of the gland lies at the root of many baffling diseases both mental and physical and as yet defies any clear cut diagnosis so if pituitary disorder is diagnosed or suspected it could very well be worthwhile including in the diet, agents that sustain the gland and the endocrinal system in general, such as those included in C7.

The ingredients of C7 are ‘Bi-directional’ and can contribute to healthy liver & lung function and on test have been seen to be effective in the treatment of Ulcerative Colitis. Traditionally Negundi is also used for headaches, coughs and colds in rural communities.

The unusually high concentration of Vitamin E found in the healthy horse’s pituitary and adrenal glands is indicative of the body’s need to put into effect special protection in such places that are in the front line against stress so it follows that any lowering of  dietary tocopherols (Vitamin E constitutes  the body’s security) due to insufficiency or mal-absorption quickly  invites fault in the form of cell deterioration by the increase in  harmful hydroperoxide containing compounds that left unchecked have an increasingly damaging effects on the body’s metabolism. Additional Vitamin E may be necessary if so feed C7 in conjunction with TPGS-5.

C7 has a steroidal effect on the body but not because it contains steroids but because the steroidal precursors have a similar effect. The body does not recognise it or mistake for its own hormones but simply uses it in a similar manner.

Diabetes is a condition in which blood sugar levels are chronically above normal. Horses develop diabetes when the pancreas does not make enough insulin or the body does not properly use insulin. The ability of the body to properly control the levels of blood sugar and regulate insulin and cortisol in the body is essential to reducing stress and promoting longevity. Stress leads to increased cortisol secretion and can produce elevated levels of sugar in the blood (hyperglycaemia). Repeated release of insulin to lower blood sugar levels eventually can lead to insulin resistance, which is the cause of metabolic syndrome, which is directly implicated in obesity and laminitis along with a number of other problems including heart mal-conditions

EVENKEEL 8  –   Registered Client Information

Composition – 30% Vitex negundo extract, 22.7% Passiflora incarnata, 20% Valeriana officinalis, 10% Magnesium phosphate, 10% L-Tryptophan, 5% Magnesium oxide, 2.3% Vitamin B1 Thiamine hydrochloride. 0.8% Stevia rotundifolia ext

EVENKEEL 8 is formulated to help maintain composure in Equines.

For feeding to otherwise healthy horses to combat changes in temperament and help regularise hormonal balance  the secondary effects of which can cause stress and can affect digestion.

Feed when necessary in conjunction with H29

Feed to help the horses’ anxiety through his digestive system, when nervous or worried, diarrhoea (scours) are commonly presented.  Signs of external stress can be like other nervine types so  he or she may be ‘spooky’  but the stress is  mainly  internalizes in the gut even at times suffering an attack of colic when under stress, weight loss or deterioration in the haircoat. EVENKEEL 8 can help to rebalances the nervous system and maintain the health of the horse’s digestive system.

In mares EVENKEEL 8 can help regulate inappropriate hormonal activity acting on the anterior pituitary gland, reducing FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and increasing LSH (Luteum-stimulating hormone) – Stimulates the production of Progesterone but reduces that of Oestrogen. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory and natural anti-biotic properties. EVENKEEL 8 is safe and there are no known counter indications as to its use.

Also see VN10 and Attitude Adjuster

Feeding tip – Feeding Evenkeel with apple juice in the bucket feed may well aid acceptance  by the suspicious horse.

GENERAL NOTES  –

The nervous system is designed to not only translate the wishes of the horse into actions through control of muscles but to receive, transmit, store, organise and retrieve information, such information reflects the status of the world to the horse, the internal state of its body and its expectations a moment from that thought. As with other animals time may pass at a different perceived speed than it does for a human and due to horses’ exceptional memory it cannot forget things especially any form of cruelty where the bond between it and mankind has been broken. For the purposes of clarification the nervous system is usually divided into a) central and peripheral, and b) sympathetic and parasympathetic or the autonomic or voluntary system. For our purposes the distinction between cholinergic and adrenergic nervous systems as part of the central system are of most interest. The adrenergic nervous system involves all nerves depending on the presence of adrenalin (and related compounds) and the cholinergic system on the presence of acetylcholine (ACh). The two systems work in opposition at times and complement one another at other times. Generally when the horse is aroused and ready for action or flight it produces adrenalin like chemicals so that the adrenergic system can operate correctly then when the horse rests and relaxes the cholinergic system takes over allowing food to be digested and to recover from stress. If for any reason the horse remains in a prolonged state of arousal or stress the constant presence of adrenalin related compounds and their resultant metabolites (waste products) will do damage causing ulcers, uncharacteristic behaviour,  lethargy, cellular imbalance and a host of secondary and quite possibly tertiary mal-conditions and problems due to an insidious lowering of the body’s natural defences,  such problems can even spill over into autonomic reactions such as prolonged headshaking and other habits. EVENKEEL 8 is a cholinergic formula.

EVENKEEL 2  –  Registered Client Information

INGREDIENTS – Passiflora incarnata, Chamomilla recutita, Humulus lupulus, Magnesium phosphate, Magnesium oxide, L-Tryptophan, Kieselgur (freshwater silicaceous single cell diatom algae), Vitamin B1 Thiamine hydrochloride.

This formula is suggested for feeding spooky, worried and anguished horses that can become rigid with fear, freezing up with tension, may not bolt but can with a series of stressful events just explode – bucking, rearing or taking off. Even in relatively low-stress situations muscles are not truly relaxed if nervous underneath.  EVENKEEL 2 helps to relax and rebalances the nervous system so as to relax muscular tension.

Feed when necessary in conjunction with H29

Feeding tip – Feeding Evenkeel with apple juice in the bucket feed may well aid acceptance

Evenkeel 2 is formulated for similar stresses as is EvenKeel 1 but does not contain any substances included in the list of prohibitive substances and can be fed to horses competing under rules.
